About Eddy

Eddy grew up in Caracas, Venezuela. He started playing with BASIC (programming language)  when he was 9 years old and when he was 15, he wrote software in Pascal to make stereograms, which he proceeded to print and proudly post around his school. It was at this moment that Eddy learned the power of technology and how it could be used to change the world.

During college, films like Lord of the Rings awakened in him the dream of working in visual effects. Eddy, with 5 other friends, created the first 3D animated short film produced in Venezuela that was screened in theaters around the capital.

Soon after, as a research engineer at Brown University, Eddy developed Virtual Reality apps to understand how bats fly; and at Industrial Light and Magic, he worked on software tools for the animators of Star Wars and Pirates of the Caribbean.

As much as he enjoyed working on visual effects, Eddy had an entrepreneurial bug that kept nagging and eventually propelled him into the world of mobile apps. In 2008, with the first iPhones being under a year old, Eddy developed SnapShop Showroom, one of the first Augmented Reality apps in the App Store used to visualize how a new piece of furniture would look like in your living room.

SnapShop attracted clients such as Crate&Barrel and Velux Skylights early on, however, over time, it evolved into a mobile consulting business, helping companies with strategy, product management and development of mobile apps. SnapShop has enjoyed working with clients such as Facebook and Logitech as well as a multitude of Silicon Valley Startups.

Eddy is passionate about projects that use technology to make the world a better place.
